Matías Osta-Vélez

About

I am an assistant professor in Philosophy of Science at the Institute for Philosophy of the University of the Republic. My research focuses on the foundations of cognitive science, especially theories of concepts and reasoning. I am also interested in topics related to philosophy of science, social epistemology, philosophy of logic, and philosophy of language.

I studied philosophy, logic, and cognitive science at the the University of Paris 1, the University of the Republic, and Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich. I completed my PhD under the supervision of Stephan Hartmann and Max Kistler at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy and the Institut d’histoire et de philosophie des sciences et des techniques . After that, I was a NeuroMind Fellow at the Center for Mind and Cognition at Ruhr-Universität Bochum and a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Philosophy at Heinrich-Heine Universität Düsseldorf.
